Awaiting the Ice Storm

Nosebleed section . . .

Things here in Austin have slowed down a bit the past few days because of the weather. Yesterday we got over 5 inches of rain at our house and we are expecting more rain and freezing weather meaning ICE! Ugh! Austin basically shuts down when we have an ice storm which generally happens about once a year. I went to the grocery store this morning to pick up a few things and had to check the weather report to make sure we weren't going to be iced in for a week! There was no bread and maybe 2 packages of chicken left in the whole store. Oddly, the chip aisle was totally ransacked too, chips aren't something I really think of as a survival supply. Chris and Skylar with the UT Tower in the background.

We braved the rain yesterday and took Skylar to her first UT sporting event, a basketball game. It was great because it was short enough that she didn't get too stir crazy and well-timed snacks kept her occupied when she started to get squirmy.

Chris is working on putting up a new fence in our backyard. Skylar and I hang out and rake leaves, trim the plants and play in the dirt. It's much more fun than digging post holes!
